Fixing a wet basement in Alexandria Va.
Challenge
This underground basement in Alexandria Va was frequently collecting water. The space was often very humid and there was a risk of storing items on the floor. The basement was below street level as you can see in the first photo so any rainwater had an easy path downstairs and into the basement area of the home. The challenge was to eliminate the build-up of water in the basement and find a solution to control it and send it back out of the home.
Solution
There was a 3 part solution to this problem. Installation of our patented Water Guard system along the out floor/walls of the basement as can be seen via the darker cement. Water Guard was installed below the actual floor of the basement to capture and control the water. Clean Space walling was used to help capture and redirect water coming through the brick and stone walls of the basement, sending it down to the Water Guard system. All of that captured and controlled water is then sent to the "Super Sump" sump pump to be sent back out of the home. It is important to understand that you cannot always stop the water from coming into a home, but you can control what happens to it when it does come in. Most basements are designed to fail. This solution is a proven method to address these issues.
