Photo Album: A Nightmare in a Crawl Space!!

This crawl space was in one of the worst conditions our team has ever seen. The homeowner called us because there was standing water in the crawl space - but what we found was much, much worse. The sheer amount of water, combined with very hot, humid summer conditions, had caused a truly obscene amount of all different kinds of mold to flourish. The moisture in the crawl space also caused the fiberglass batt insulation to become wet, heavy, and useless. It was falling or hanging from the ceiling and you could actually see the condensation and mold growing on the insulation. There was heavy condensation on the piping and ducts as well. The wooden joists supporting the ceiling (and the rest of the house above!) were beginning to rot and lean - this was causing the floor above to sag, indicating that structural, foundational damage was imminent.  This crawl space was basically destroyed. Take a look at what could be lurking in yours, especially if you are experiencing any musty odors or 'bouncy' floors.
