Photo Album: Mice-Infested Crawl Space Gets Insulated and Encapsulated
The condition of this crawl space was causing the floors above it to smell musty and have noticeably higher temperatures/more humid conditions in the summer than the rest of the house. Our team also discovered that there was evidence of rodents. Rodents can easily chew through standard batt insulation and set up house - the insulation is warm and protective.
We needed to remove the damaged insulation, place drainage matting and a vapor barrier on the crawl space floor to prevent water leakage, and used closed cell spray foam to insulate the crawl space walls and joists.
