Photo Album: Herndon VA Crawl Space Repair - Spray Foam Insulation

This home in Herndon VA had a crawl space that was in bad shape.  The owners had issues with the floors being cold in the winter and a musty smell whenever it rained.  They called us to help and our Home Performance Sales Pro Carl went to do a full inspection.  Carl designed a plan to help with improving the crawl space appearance along with controlling the condition inside of the space and the air quality of the home and rooms above.  Removal of the old materials inside the crawl space was first.  Then our team laid down a moisture barrier and insulation for the ground.  Clean space material was used to cover the floors and walls and was then sealed over with spray foam insulation.  The open vents of the crawl space were capped and sealed with Zyp Foam.  Spray foam insulation was also used to air seal and insulate the rum joists of the home.  Eliminating uncontrolled air flow in the crawl space an properly insulating the space would help to improve the air quality and reduce the energy costs for the home.
