Correcting a Neglected Crawl Space in Nokesville, VA

Challenge

A homeowner in Nokesville, VA called the 3 Pros team about a rough situation in their basement. The crawl space had been badly neglected by the previous owners and there was now sagging, soft rim joists and rotting wood. Some "band-aid" repairs had been made a few years back, but the larger issue of excessive moisture in the basement was never resolved. The homeowners had reached a point where they absolutely needed to start addressing these issues and fixing them properly.

Solution

To fix the damage and eliminate the possibility of a repeat situation, the 3 Pros team fully encapsulated the entire crawl space with our CleanSpace system. Spray foam was applied to the walls and rim joists and insulation was installed in the floors. New drainage matting was also installed to replace the damaged previous ones.

A "band-aid" solution is never the best idea. While your issues of moisture, odor, and damp or uncomfortable conditions might be resolved in the short term, this house is a prime example of what devolves when temporary solutions are used to address permanent problems.
