The Before
Here is what the crawlspace looked like in Falls Church, VA before we arrived on the site! You can see here a bit of the drywall which has fallen in due to a lack of a vapor barrier.
The Before: II
This is another before photo!

CleanSpace Drainage Matting
The CleanSpace Drainage Matting we are looking at rolled out here is quite bubbly looking. This matting acts as the first line of defense between the earth beneath the structure of your house and the space you call home. The nubbly nature of the matting allows room for the natural cycles of the earth to breathe and move without disturbing the ecosystem above and below the mat.
Taping it Together
This is another shot of the CleanSpace Drainage Matting! In this photo you can see one of our crew members using a special tape that has waterproofing qualities to keep the swaths of matting together.
The Next Layer
Though we actually get a glimpse of the next two layers here, we are going to focus on the matting that stars in the upper section of the photo. This thick white matting is called TerraBlock and this is the primary thermal insulator for crawlspaces. This layer is not necessary in every home, particularly homes that do not struggle with regulating the temperature of their homes above crawlspaces.
The Final Layer
The final layer in the 3-part system is the CleanSpace Liner which is the glassy white sheet you see laid out in this photo. This is the ultimate waterproofing agent which will act as the primary vapor barrier for your home. This 7-ply patent protected liner is also sealed with the tape we saw with the drainage matting.
More CleanSpace!
This is simply another shot of the liner to see what it looks like installed! The blue around the edge is just the underside of the lining which has yet to be adhered to the walls.
Extras
This home needed some additional thermal insulation support on top of the CleanSpace System so as you can see in this photograph we have spray foamed the crawlspace walls which may have been points of leakage. You can also see how we have insulated the ductwork which can also be a point of leakage for conditioned air.
