This Charles Town WV homeowner called us to see if we could help with their floors that were too cold in the winter months and to help make their basement less drafty. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jon visited and was able to identify several services and products that would help. Our production team started by removing the old insulation from the top area of the crawl space and smoothing out the dirt floors to have material installed to cover them. The vents allowing outside air to come in were sealed up and Silver Glo insulation panels were installed along the walls of the crawl space. Terra Block floor matting was used to cover the dirt floors and then covered over by a layer of Clean Space material that was also run up the walls of the crawl space. This process encapsulates the crawl space, making it a controlled environment with minimal outside air and allergens being able to enter. The controlled temperatures in the crawl space will help to keep the floors above from being cold.

The open dirt floors in the crawl space were wet due to the moisture rich air able to move freely into the crawl space. This contributed to a musty smell and poor air quality.
