Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Stafford VA Crawls Space Insulation and Encapsulation

This Stafford VA home had a nasty, wet and moldy crawl space.  The existing insulation was dirty, wet and was falling loose in several areas.  The floors of the crawl space were moist and covered by a layer of dirty plastic.  Open air vents allowed for uncontrolled air flow in and out of the craw space and permitted moisture and allergens to enter and mix in with the air that the homeowners were breathing inside.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jason was able to design a project to help improve all of these issues along with helping to reduce the energy cost and comfort of the home.  The open vents were all capped and air sealed, eliminating the ability for outside air to come in.  The old insulation was removed and the entire space was sprayed with MoldX2 botanical cleaner to prevent future mold growth.  The walls of the Crawl Space were insulated with Silver Glo insulation panels and air sealed with Zyp Foam.  The rim joists in the space were also capped and air sealed.  Clean Space was installed to cover the floors and base of the walls.  This would all help reduce the presence of any unwanted moisture and keep the crawl space useful for storage or other needs.
