A properly encapsulated crawl space can not only allow for more usage options in the space, but it can help improve the air quality in the home along with reducing energy costs. this crawl space in Reston VA was musty, dirty and uncontrolled, allowing outside air and allergens to come in through the open vents. Sealing off the space, insulating the walls and covering the dirt floor with multiple layers of Clean Space helped to make this a controlled environment with better air quality and a much more appealing visual.
This Reston VA home had falling insulation that was failing to properly insulate the rooms and living space above from the uncontrolled environment of the crawl space. The walls of the crawl space were not insulated and there vents allowing outdoor air to move freely in and out of the crawl space. This external air can bring dust and allergens that can impact the air quality inside of the home. Our Production Team Leader Carlos directed his team in removing the existing insulation before sealing up the vents to the crawl space and using spray foam to insulate the walls. This turns the crawl space into a controlled environment with no influence from outside air temperatures. It all makes the air quality in the home better and helps to reduce the energy costs for the homeowner.
This Reston VA crawl space needed an upgrade. The crawl space was vented and had insulation that did not work. The existing bat insulation was coming loose from the crawl space ceiling and falling to the dirt floor below. The walls of the crawl space were untreated and allowing moisture/wetness to enter the area. This lead to a musty smell in the crawl space which worked its way into the air above in the living spaces of the home. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jason came to do a full home inspection and identified the solution to help solve all of those problems. Jason advised that the homeowner to have the existing insulation removed and then to use our Clean Space service to cover the dirt floors and walls of the crawl space. Clean Space includes Terra Block matting below to allow for the flow or air and moisture but keeps it from entering the air of the home above. Once Clean Space was installed the walls were insulated with spray foam and the vents were sealed up. Spray Foam was also used to seal up the rim joists in the crawl space, eliminating the opportunity for external air and temperatures to impact the environment inside of the crawl space. This would all lead to improved air quality and reduced energy costs for the home.
Homeowners in Quantico, VA reached out to us for crawl space encapsulation after they saw mice in their crawl space and noticed significant issues with temperature and humidity in their home. Our Sales Professional, Pedro, visited the home to provide a free, no obligation estimate, and once the contract was signed, the 3 Pros Production Crew got to work. They started by placing a drainage layer and a vapor barrier in the crawl space floor. Our CleanSpace will prevent moisture as well as pests from entering the home via the crawl space. Keeping the crawl space dry can also reduce long-term damage to structure supporting building material. Next, they applied closed-cell spray foam insulation to the walls and rim joists, where the crawl space was releasing outside air into the main level of the home. These homeowners were happy with the work that was done and observed a great improvement of their home's overall health.
This Fairfax VA home had water in the crawl space so the homeowners called us to help install waterproofing solutions. After sealing up the crawl space and installing a sump pump, a discharge line was needed to direct the collected water away from the foundation of the home. After digging up the yard to create a trench, our production team tried to get the yard back to its original condition.
